917601 Posted January 29, 2021 Share #1 Posted January 29, 2021 Found this at another flea market. Not as nice as Persian Gulfs example in a shipping tube, but getting very hard to find any Sherman ordnance. This is the up gunned 76mm Sherman with the M26 case and M62 APC projectile. Interesting, no markings on the driving band, but on the projectile base is a “4” and a few other markings. The base is open, exposing the cavity, no base fuze. It is a repaint, from long ago as paint is in poor condition and evidence of being painted over some small pitting. The M26 case is in excellent condition with a fine patina. I will leave the piece as is with only Renaissance wax applied.
917601 Posted January 29, 2021 Author Share #2 Posted January 29, 2021 A footnote: GB just sold a 76mm Sherman w/ HE round- $750 plus shipping. It was a repaint in Pristine, polished “ as issued” condition.

Persian Gulf Command Posted January 29, 2021 Share #4 Posted January 29, 2021 Wow! That's a great find. The wind shield looks in very nice condition w/o any dents. Also, an earlier projectile w/ no nomenclature on the driving band. Fantastic addition to your collection!

Persian Gulf Command Posted January 30, 2021 Share #7 Posted January 30, 2021 R, Make sure that that top heavy beast isn't higher than your head on the top shelf should it take a tumble. At 11.2 lbs. and with a point it can do some damage! And would be a shame if that nosecone took a dent. 😆 John
Scottz63 Posted January 30, 2021 Share #8 Posted January 30, 2021 Cool find. It does look like a live primer.
