0bx Posted January 20, 2021 #1 Posted January 20, 2021 For anyone interested, the entire Band of Brothers series is available on the History Channel this Saturday, Jan 23, beginning at 9:30am.
TLeo Posted January 20, 2021 #2 Posted January 20, 2021 They also showed it a few weeks ago, so not sure why they are doing it again so soon. I expect I will catch at least a few episodes that day. Next weekend they will be showing "The Pacific" all day.
tdogchristy90 Posted January 20, 2021 #3 Posted January 20, 2021 I had to pull out my disk player to watch the pacific this past weekend. With digital taking over everything is being locked behind paywalls, in this case an hbo paywall. I really enjoyed my rewatch of the pacific. I love bob as well but the pacific has captured a special place for me. What a series. on a side note, anyone have any opinions on the debate between the two? I find a lot of people like bob but not the pacific. I have my own opinions, but why such a divide between the two.
jmd62 Posted January 20, 2021 #4 Posted January 20, 2021 Both series are very well done, but I prefer BoB overall since it has so many amazing characters. They developed them well and there's also a more cohesive feel to the "story." My Dad was in the ETO and my Uncle was in the 1st Marine Division in the PTO, so both series hit home :)
Thor996 Posted January 20, 2021 #5 Posted January 20, 2021 IMHO Pacific doesn't even hold a candle to Band of Brothers.
Mr.Jerry Posted January 20, 2021 #6 Posted January 20, 2021 IMO the character development was better in BoB. While each followed the source books, the Pacific characters were a bit too flawed and I didn't get to know them enough to care so much. I also liked the cinematography better in BoB with the slightly muted color scheme these used. The Pacific had some very realistic but kind of harsh colors that looks like someone filming with their iphone last week in their backyeard. There also seemed to be different types of cameras being used and not they were not color, lensing or resolution matched, so the visuals would take me out of "being there". But both very good and I am proud to have props from each in my collection!
M422A1 Posted January 20, 2021 #7 Posted January 20, 2021 I like both but I have probably watched The Pacific twice as many times as BOB. I thought that they muted the colors too much in BOB.
