1963 GORDON COOPER'S COMMAND ASTRONAUT WINGS

These 3" silver wings show the astronaut emblem in the center and have a star at top signifying the "Command" status of the wearer. A Cooper handwritten/signed certificate of authenticity on Disney notepaper is included (wrinkled) that reads: These wings presented in Washington, DC by Gen. Curtis LeMay to Gordon Cooper - 1963 . Unique and extremely important. This is the first pair of astronaut Command wings that we have ever handled. Ex- Astronaut Gordon Gordo Cooper Estate Collection.

The wings appear to made by Vanguard. Opening bid is $48, and the auction house estimates $1500 sale price.

A star on top of USAF Astronaut pilot wings signifies "Senior" Pilot Astronaut. The Command Pilot Astronaut has a wreath around the star... just like regular Command Pilots wings.
