triplecanopy Posted June 14, 2023 #201 Posted June 14, 2023 Here is the older now obsolete USMRA Coin. USMRA is the United States Mountain Ranger Association which is made of of both active duty and retired Rangers and Ranger Instructors. Open to all Ranger School graduates and those who have served in a Ranger Unit in Combat. No dues required. Check it out: http://usmountainranger.org/index.php
triplecanopy Posted June 14, 2023 #202 Posted June 14, 2023 MAC-V RECONDO School Coin (made post Vietnam) for those who graduated from this tough three week course taught by Special Forces Instructors at Nha Trang RVN and culminating with a real live fire field exercise against the enemy out there in the bush. MAC-V stands for Military Assistance Command- Vietnam. This course was one of the best schools I ever went to. It is a shame that RECONDO schools are no longer offered. Also shown are two original MAC-V RECONDO Patches and a 5¢ script from there.
triplecanopy Posted June 15, 2023 #203 Posted June 15, 2023 This is the coin of the ARTB or Airborne Ranger Training Brigade at Fort Benning, Georgia. The number on it is my favorite caliber. ARTB is responsible for both Airborne and Ranger schools. There are the 4th, 5th and 6th Ranger Training Battalions to conduct the three phases of Ranger School plus the 1st Battalion 507th Parachute Infantry Regiment to carry out the Airborne training . AATW RLTW! DOL.
triplecanopy Posted June 16, 2023 #204 Posted June 16, 2023 This is not a unit coin but a coin of Vietnam service. Welcome home brothers and sisters! 58,000+ didn't make it home.
triplecanopy Posted June 16, 2023 #206 Posted June 16, 2023 Military Free Fall or HALO coins. Note the older MFF/HALO Instructor coin with the proposed type 2 HALO JM Instructor wings. Also note the original large HALO wings Type 1 and the current finally approved Free Fall Jumpmaster wings Type 3.
BEAT_NAVY Posted July 5, 2023 #207 Posted July 5, 2023 Great coins! The design on the LRRP coin is very nice. On 6/14/2023 at 4:58 PM, triplecanopy said: This coin was presented to honor service as a Long Range Reconnaissance Patrol (LRRP) Member.

BryanJ Posted November 19, 2023 #214 Posted November 19, 2023 The “…don’t get caught at the bar without it” concept may have originated with the idea behind the “Short-Snorters”. Here’s an interesting article about that: https://www.pbs.org/opb/historydetectives/feature/famous-short-snorters/
Lowdog Posted January 7, 2024 #215 Posted January 7, 2024 My small but awesome Challenge coin collection..

My name is Les Doggett and I have a collection of challenge coins that I have acquire from Commanding Officers of ship's that I have managed during repair phases. I have asked the remaining family iof anyone has a coin with his name on it with no luck. Would you be interested in selling it. It would mean the world to me. Thank you!
Chuckman1108 Posted October 25, 2024 #217 Posted October 25, 2024 In my job I work with SF medics and Navy SOIDCs and get gifted coins, patches, and shirts from time to time (I am a former corpsman/navy RN, so "in" with that group). I got this yesterday.
Chuckman1108 Posted October 25, 2024 #218 Posted October 25, 2024 And my others. I am not a collector, I just have what get gifted.
Sgt_Rock_EasyCo Posted October 30, 2024 #219 Posted October 30, 2024 18 years ago my daughter was 2 years old and saw my challenge coins on a living room table. They were money, so she took them and put them into the candy machines like grandma showed her at the store. The "coin slot" was a sliding door that disappears into the wall. Needless to say, the contractor had to disassemble the door and retrieved my coins. I looked around fir my original Operation Urgent Fury "Grenada" coin but never found it. I assumed the contractor had stolen it abd was very sad because it was an original and quite rare. Fast forward to last week, I'm setting up the man cave and checked the pockets of my original class a's......yup, there it was!
