pre-WWII M-40 denim jacket

I acquired today, what I think is a M40 denim chore jacket.

My question is, would it be normal/common to see them patched with ranks (sergeant) ?

Yes indeed it could be seen, not much if at all with the shoulder patches though we should think.

A friend of mine found one of these Jackets in a Downtown Houston gun show. Absolutely mint condition, but it was stenciled in white paint "P" on one shoulder and "W" on the other (I wish I'd bought it from him 😬) ! He sent it off to Manion's Auction House, where I'd bet it did well.
