Age of Ribbon

How can i determine the age of a piece of military ribbon, I have heard of using a UV light, is that a good method and if so what am I looking to see and if not what other methods can i use to determine lets say difference between WW2 to post WW2 ribbon

Post a picture and we'd be happy to help.  There are certain construction methods that are WWII and earlier, while others are decidedly post WWII.  Ultimately, there were a lot of ribbons produced between 1941 and say...1954, so some ribbons are definitely difficult to discern.
