A well worn black holster, made back in 1963. It is hard to see from the pictures, but you can see the outline from the revolver that the holster once carried. Even if its rough around the edges, still looks good for its age.

A.P’s carried Mdl 15 S&W .38 Spl. revolvers in Vietnam. US Army M.P.’s carried 1911A1’s. A few Mdl. 15’s were “ in private hands” as well as other firearms over there.

Whoops! Seems I didnt realize there was a distinction between AP and MP. I had thought MP was a blanket term for any security force in the armed forces.

The Holster and S&W M-15 were also carried by fighter and bomber pilots. Belts were equipped with either cartridge loops or police style dump pouches. Ace,Col. Robin Olds had 30 loops sewn on his web belt for extra ammo. He also tied his holster off western style with a leg tie.

Found a good artist drawing showing that.

Well, quite a few Mdl. 15’s were in “ private hands” over there. “Acquired” one way or another as were Browning Hi-Powers and captured commie weapons. Then there were assorted “frags” and gas/ smokes kept in hootches.

You would not want to call an Army MP an AP, had to be there to know, lol.
