Burning Hazard Posted January 10, 2021 Share #1 Posted January 10, 2021 This is on the back of my WWII production Westinghouse liner; not sure if former follow me stripe? Maybe tape outline? There seems to be another horizontal stripe above which also may have been a name tape? Any thoughts would be appreciated. Pat
Costa Posted January 10, 2021 Share #2 Posted January 10, 2021 if it was paint you would see remnants of it. could have been white tape???
The Rooster Posted January 10, 2021 Share #3 Posted January 10, 2021 Hey Mitch, Yea it looks like someone put some tape on there and squared it off with a knife.... ?
ken88 Posted January 10, 2021 Share #4 Posted January 10, 2021 Looks like it's outline from tape indeed, perhaps in the shape of a T for technician or a cross? If you look up 509th PIB, you will find they used a similar system in the MTO, taping letters on the back of their helmets.
Burning Hazard Posted January 10, 2021 Author Share #5 Posted January 10, 2021 Thanks guys. I agree with it being tape that was squared off with a knife; took a closer look and the white parts are tape residue and that got pushed in when they were cut. Ken, I know the 509th used tape but mostly on shells; a liner would of been covered up which makes me think this one was used for training purposes.
