wartimecollectables.com Posted January 6, 2021 Share #1 Posted January 6, 2021 I was very pleased to pick up this South Carolina Civil War vets group recently! Anna Jane White Bacot was the son of Peter Bacot and Anna Jane White. Born in Darlington, SC in May 1847, he was named for his mother, who died giving birth. Called "Janey", he left home at 15 with his brother Tours L. Bacot, and served with Captain Trenholms’ Company of the Rutledge Mounted Rifleman and Horse Artillery, Captain Tuckers’ Cavalry and Captain Walpole’s Stono Scouts. These units formed and served out of the Johns Island and Isle of Palms area in South Carolina. "Janey" Bacot surrendered with his brother at Greensboro, NC on 26 April 1865. Returning to South Carolina, he married Emma E. McCall in 1878 who bore him 4 children. Granted a veterans pension on 11/24/1919. He died in Black Swamp, Florence County, SC on May 6, 1933 and is buried in Mount Hope Cemetery.
M24 Chaffee Posted January 6, 2021 Share #2 Posted January 6, 2021 Very nice grouping! The badges look great. Sad story about his mother but very interesting about his name. Great to have that history! Frank
