I’m able to be the next caretaker of this Vietnam Chaplain helmet and I was given “first right of refusal” over a year ago and thank you to the fine member who is a man of his word.
The helmet is not a “WOW THATS COOL” kind of helmet but it’s a great example of a in county helmet and there are photos of similar examples I was able to find from the internet.

The helmet may have being a reissued chaplain helmet the original cross is under the wide cross. Maybe passed from one chaplain to another.

Very Nice helmet and post Marty. Another nice chaplain for your collection :)

***other thoughts - maybe hes was just refining his cross illustration technique :) or it wasn’t that legible in the beginning perhaps.

Spectacular helmet Marty! I love the way he’s canted the Chaplains cross at a bit of an angle, and it looks from the photos that it was not unique as there’s another one there with the cross at an angle...very interesting! Congrats on this great helmet! 👍🏼😊

Could the helmet belong to different chaplains of maybe different denomination's since the cross's are different. The drawing looks like a lutheran or Methodist or just christian cross. I work for a catholic church and also I am one. And I've never seen a cross like the drawn one in a catholic church. Just curious

Scott(Bugme) and I have had this conversation and he thought maybe Presbyterian. It maybe two different chaplains or the cross was not noticeable and  needed to be darker.

You can zoom in on Chaplain Tucker’s helmet and see similar writing.
Here is a photo that arrives today of Tucker in a captured VC tunnel.
I put a Bible(same era) in the strap and sent him the picture and he told me he carried A bottle a mosquito repellent on the other side, so I added a bottle.
