Reforger Posted January 4, 2021 Share #1 Posted January 4, 2021 Here is an interesting Marine Corps Recruit Depot Boxing Medal I found. First time I've seen one of these. I think it is from around the 1940's. It came with a WWII/Korean War era USMC Good Conduct Medal, but I don't know if they are both from the same person. Not sure what the value is, but this medal must be pretty rare. Has anyone else here seen one of these before?
Bob Hudson Posted January 4, 2021 Share #2 Posted January 4, 2021 With that droopy wing eagle, it looks like it could be pre-WWII. Before the war inter-mural sports were a very big deal: the Navy Department even issued a sports yearbook at one point. I don't think the sports medals were auhtorized for wear on uniforms. Reforger Posted January 5, 2021 Author Share #4 Posted January 5, 2021 Interesting! And I didn't even realize that the wings were droopy until you mentioned it. It does look like a pre WWII eagle.
