Brian Keith Posted December 30, 2020 Share #1 Posted December 30, 2020 This pouch is dated 1941, it is interesting that the hook fastener is steel, not the usual brass. The US had not entered WW II until December of 1941, so the wartime brass allocations experienced later shouldn’t have applied. Is it possible that the 1941 date is a contract date, but was made later when brass restrictions had started and a specification change allowed the use of the steel hook? Maybe I’m overthinking it, and this contract specifices a steel hook. This example was made by the Indianapolis Tent & Awning Company, Indianapolis, Indiana. Comments very welcome! Thanks for looking.
