jim46 Posted December 29, 2020 Share #1 Posted December 29, 2020 Although I can't find anything about them in Paul Braddock's book on Dog Tags, tags occasionally pop up as attributed to a soldier who was part of McNamara's Project 100,000 during the Vietnam War. This was a plan to bring men into the military who had lower than acceptable scores on their pre-induction exams. My questions, then, are: Were these men assigned a separate block of serial numbers? If so, why? And if so, what was that range? And, finally, if so, what is the source of documentation verifying this? There is such a tag on Ebay right now (December 29, 2020) with a serial number that runs: "RA 67######" Thanks for any input.
bellasilva Posted December 29, 2020 Share #2 Posted December 29, 2020 I believe they were assigned a separate block. I have two such tags in my collection. The seller is a highly knowledgeable tag collector here on the forum.
Reforger Posted January 1, 2021 Share #3 Posted January 1, 2021 Supposedly 67 at the beginning of the service number indicates the soldier belonged to Project 100,000.
