patches Posted December 21, 2020 Share #1 Posted December 21, 2020 Thoughts my friends Quite the odd ball right, kinda reminds me of a Taupe color, plus we don't really see embroidered wool ranks with their edge folded under and sewn, these are "Sealed" edges. hardstripe Posted December 21, 2020 Share #2 Posted December 21, 2020 This chevron was designed for and used on the Woman's Army Corp summer service uniform during the period 1944-1951.

Is there more examples of the type? And of it being worn, searches only show the standard men's type being worn, only seen the 50s type, the small 1948 Taupe ones. hardstripe Posted December 22, 2020 Share #4 Posted December 22, 2020 The first sets of WAC or women's chevrons were adopted in 1945 and used up to 1951. The first set were beige embroidery on beige wool backgrounds and were for the winter uniform. The second set were beige embroidery on a beige cotton background for the summer uniform. The technician grades were discontinued in 1948. The third set are the two inch wide yellow embroidery on taupe and were fully embroidered. These were used from 1951-1961, when that uniform was discontinued. I have never seen chevrons for the specialists grades in this style. The two on the left of the bottom row are theater made. Beautiful Hardstripe, thanks for the great image of all the different types, that settles that.
