rathbonemuseum.com Posted December 19, 2020 Share #1 Posted December 19, 2020 You may have read posts where @pfrost refers to a fabulous bullion wing he once saw embroidered onto a purse at a show. So to support his continuing waxing rhapsodic about said wing I am posting it here. The said wing is indeed a beauty. Measuring almost 7 inches, it is made of extremely fine silver bullion thread. The clutch has lain dormant at the bottom of drawer all these decades, seemingly never used and never even outside of its tarnish inhibiting tissue paper. Brought home from some air-minded GI, this black velvet clutch was purchased in Agra, India the famous home of the Taj Mahal in north-central India, just south of New Delhi. The purchaser clearly had good taste as he shopped at Ganeshi Lall & Son, a very famous jewelry and fine goods manufacturer and retailer established in 1845 and serving numerous heads of state (as seen in the picture of Prince Charles inspecting goods). They are proudly still in business today and you can still go in the store modeled on a palace gate.
