24th_infantry Posted December 14, 2020 Share #1 Posted December 14, 2020 A good friend of mine is trading me two huge named Vietnam groupings one is a 101st vet who started in the 82nd airborne in WWII. This grouping that I'm showing is from a 9th division veteran from PA. He passed away in 1996 and is buried in Indiantown Gap, PA. He definitely saw some heavy combat. He was wounded twice within just two months and when he was wounded the second time on July 22 1967 he was also awarded the silver star. Both PH have their certificates. The group comes with his khaki dress shirt and combat fatigues. There is a book of documents when he was training and also when he was overseas. His dog tags are also included along with a bunch of extra patches and name stencil. I believed there is a document regarding the silver star. Hopefully I can figure out what battles he was wounded in. I have very little in the way of Vietnam items but I think this would make a great addition to the few things in my collection. I would love to get some feedback. I know very little about Vietnam items especially value. Is this possibly one of the jackets he wore in combat by chance? Also what do you think a rough value would be? My buddy said he was going to be asking $500 if he was to sell it, instead of trading. Thanks a lot in advance! Dave Posted December 14, 2020 Share #2 Posted December 14, 2020 With the medals and their documents, along with the uniform and insignia, I think $500 is a reasonable price for the group. Not a "flipping" price to make a profit, but I think a good price for the collection. Dave

I wouldn't be flipping it because it would make a great display piece and there is a lot of history to talk about in my presentations.

I definitely don't think you'd be overpaying (or overtrading) at all. It's a neat group.

GIKyle Posted December 15, 2020 Share #6 Posted December 15, 2020 I agree with Dave. Very nice group that can be rounded out with research and a FOIA pull if/ when the NPRC reopens.

I think it actually does have a patch on the left as well. I personally do not have this as of yet to tell you 100%. It's something that a good friend and myself are discussing for a trade. Matt-M Posted December 22, 2020 Share #9 Posted December 22, 2020 At $500 for a SS and 2x PH recipient with original documents as well as a named jungle jacket is a great, if not hellava cheap price. Easily worth 2x IMHO. Jungle jacket from a SS/2xPH recip worth $200 alone. Great acquisition. Congrats. And, more than that, thank you Corporal Stuck for your service.
