CDV of a drawn image of Castle Reed, Andersonville, GA. Reed was used to hold Federal officers for a short while. Backmark is from Vicksburg, MS.

 

John Burns Walker enlisted in the 141st Pennsylvania Inf. He saw significant action at Chancellorsville and Gettysburg before being captured in 1864 at North Anna and sent to Andersonville. Burns also testified at the trial of Henry Wirz, commandant of Andersonville.

That’s a neat piece! I have a diary from a Massachusetts soldier who survived Andersonville.
