I’ve had this token for who knows how long, I haven’t been able to find out what A.S.M.S. stands for. The token is 1 ½ inches in diameter and is made of aluminum. Likely it dates from the post WW I era. Being worth $1, that is a bit of coin in that day!

According to Paul Cunninghams catalog of US military tokens, it is from the Air Service Mechanics School at Kelly Field, TX.

The catalog is long out of print.  Copies appear on Ebay occasionally.  There are two volumes -- one for stateside and one for overseas.
