120mm M831A1 TP-T, M1 Tank Round.

Posting an M1 tank 120mm HEAT round with container. Next to a 1950’s era 120mm AP round ( M103 Heavy Tank). The blue HEAT round is a target practice round. Most do not realize our 120mm M1 tank rounds use consumable casings, they ignite with the propellant and after firing the gun only the stub case ( head case)remains and is ejected when the breech is opened.

Tankers with their 120mm ammo. 1960’s to 2020. Not much changed? Well, it is. The USMC announced recently they are discarding and abandoning all their M1 tanks. Strange turn of events, back in the 60’s the Army decided they could not use their M103 heavy tanks in Europe so the USMC took them. Today, the USMC decided they no longer need M1 tanks and the Army will take them.

Nice. I have only a TASC solid molded 120mm that I was able to paint so it looks a "bit" more realistic. Would love to have something like you have. Looks nice and I do think they are quite hard to come by.  I've seen photos of full size cutaways... those are a holy grail to me of 120's.

Nice model. I just have some range pickup sabot petals for the round, no projectile though.
