MattS Posted December 5, 2020 #1 Posted December 5, 2020 CSM and former DS, 327th INF DUI, PUC with 3 OLCs, EIB and Ranger. No Vietnam or GWOT ribbons so I’m assuming he served in the 70s through 90s to get the star on his NDSM. Found a name it inside, have not been able to nail him down though. Any help would be appreciated!
lettow Posted December 5, 2020 #2 Posted December 5, 2020 What is the branch disk? The PUC and fourragere must be unit awards as he shows no combat history. I assume the knot on the GCM is silver.

I assume the knot on the GCM is silver. It is the Army of the US (sometimes called the unassigned branch) but correct for a CSM. I agree, no combat experience and yes, a silver knot on the GCM.
patches Posted December 6, 2020 #4 Posted December 6, 2020 No Parachute Badge, And no Air Assualt Badge either, RANGER qualified though, so perhaps a Leg Ranger he was?

Guest Iron Buzz Posted November 14, 2021 #7 Posted November 14, 2021 I’m blown away - I just Googled my old 1st Sergeant’s name and this came up! I served with him in Alaska at Bravo Company, 6/327th in 1984. I came straight from AIT and jump school at Ft. Benning to Ft. Wainwright, AK in January 1984. He was a good 1st Sergeant - smaller in stature but physically tough. I do remember that he wasn’t a Vietnam Vet. I suspect he retired prior to the Gulf War.

BTW, I was in the old 4/9 Inf at Wainwright, July 81 Dec 82 juust before the new Regimental System was to start, I ETSed from there early on a Christmas Drop in mid December 82, real ETS date like January 5 83, but already by early December word came down the 4/9th was to be reflagged as a battalion of the 327th.
Guest Iron Buzz Posted December 13, 2021 #9 Posted December 13, 2021 Here’s an old certificate I received with then 1Sgt. Fowler’s name and signature. Gotta love the old computer “graphics”
