Does anyone recognize this patch?

It came out of a large WWI patch collection that was auctioned off at first of the year in the high desert area in California.

The bullion detail work is amazing.

I thought that also but Dan Griffin didn't think so, and I trust him a lot when it comes to WWI patches

Agree Dan is tops in field, but why not his reason for not thinking it was 20th. Maybe thinks it is related to German mine field outfit?

Could it be a WW1 Russian Tsarist Shock Battalion Death Head insignia of some kind (see photos)?

Anything is possible but every 20th DIV patch I have ever seen had "20" on it.

Eric is right that the 20th should have "20" on it now that I think of it.

I agree the 20th should have the numbers but how many WWI patches have we seen that should have numbers and don't, and how many that don't have numbers but some variants have numbers?

I also think it's fraternal living in Milwaukee we had Knights of this Knights of that and 80% of them used Skulls in their organizations insignia.
