War Department Emblem of Civilian Service on Card

This popped up at a local auction of a friend of mine who attended auctions for many (many!) years. Some would have called him a “pack rat”. He was in the National Guard unit I joined for many years and so was his son. I was afraid to actually stay at the sale as I figured I would buy way too much stuff I didn’t really need. But my wife was willing to stay (and didn’t actually purchase too much “junk”) and was able to get this box I asked her to bid on and she got it for just a few bucks. The woman it was awarded to worked at Patterson Field, Ohio, later Wright-Patterson Field AFB. The ribbon is not uncommon, but I have never seen one with the presentation card.

Hope you enjoy seeing this unusual document.
