robinb Posted November 26, 2020 Share #1 Posted November 26, 2020 First I have to say that I am deeply regretful of using this fixed bail pot as a target some 35 years ago. They weren't worth much back then. But now I just couldn't resist putting it over a small fir tree in my back yard. I'll post a new photo every Thanksgiving. I might need a reminder though. 268th C.A. Posted November 26, 2022 Share #14 Posted November 26, 2022 Personally I feel Sorry for the tree, it surly wont grow right with a piece of steel sticking out of it. Sounds like a Dr. Mengele experiment.... Call me a tree hugger...
robinb Posted November 26, 2022 Author Share #15 Posted November 26, 2022 Those fir trees pop up here all the time, and I cut them down. We have no lack of trees around here.
dmar836 Posted November 26, 2022 Share #16 Posted November 26, 2022 Firs are soft wood but my money is on the tree. The helmet doesn't stand a chance. The way the paint is worn from the rim this is likely a fake. Actually I think I see either a ginger bread man or a white circle under there somewhere, don't I? One thing is for sure. They have been together for a long time and will be hard to get apart.

BryanJ Posted January 1 Share #21 Posted January 1 I don’t know, the helmet seems to be doing pretty well too. I can’t see any more rust than was in the first photo.
