viking4zero Posted November 26, 2020 Share #1 Posted November 26, 2020 I took this out of the drivers hatch in a knocked out BMP or BRDM, I don't recall which. There was a graveyard of destroyed Iraqi vehicles in Taji we'd pick through for a souviner sometimes. If you can't tell, it's a periscope, for driving with hatch locked. Nothing special, just junk I brought home.
USCapturephotos Posted November 26, 2020 Share #2 Posted November 26, 2020 Thanks for sharing it with us and thanks for your service. I came home from my job one time and saw a beat up cardboard box on my front steps. Here my buddy, an officer in a combat engineer unit with the 1st Cav in Iraq thew a bunch of Iraqi souvenirs in and shipped it to me for my collection. I still have the souvenirs but, like an idiot, threw out the box. I love original WW2 souvenirs still in the shipping container so don’t know what I was thinking. bryang Posted January 14, 2021 Share #3 Posted January 14, 2021 Very cool! I brought home a similar periscope, though mine is apparently U.S. I took it out of a destroyed BMP just north of Kuwait City.
