m1a2u2 Posted November 22, 2020 Share #1 Posted November 22, 2020 The SSI on the left arm looks original. What are your thoughts on the subdued patch? German made?
KurtA Posted November 22, 2020 Share #2 Posted November 22, 2020 Based on the items you have been posting recently, you really need to switch sources.

vintageproductions Posted November 23, 2020 Share #4 Posted November 23, 2020 Like I said in the pm , this 101st was made for collectors in Thailand. They made one for every unit that was attached to the 101st in Vietnam plus the regular variants.

vintageproductions Posted November 23, 2020 Share #6 Posted November 23, 2020 There are no threads on this subject. It's one of those subjects that you have had to study and know who was making what and when they were making it.

I'm no expert, but the patch below left looks identical to the one I posted. Brando cites ASMIC in claiming it was made in Japan in 1969 but not known to be worn in Vietnam.... https://www.101airborneww2.com/eaglepatchcorner3.html

gwb123 Posted November 29, 2020 Share #9 Posted November 29, 2020 All of these patches have been recently added, especially that SP/4 rank which looks like it has never been sewn before. As far as the subdued 101st, as well researched as ASMIC is, it does have some occasional errors, especially when relying on third party information.
