iron bender Posted November 18, 2020 Share #1 Posted November 18, 2020 I was very excited to add this to my Italian woven patches.

mortaydc60 Posted November 18, 2020 Share #3 Posted November 18, 2020 Actually it is a WW1 Liberty Loan patch and still very desireable and an easy mistake to make.
iron bender Posted November 18, 2020 Author Share #4 Posted November 18, 2020 Oh man! That hurts. All I had to do was go to page 100 of Keller's book to figure that out. Thanks for the heads up!
mortaydc60 Posted November 19, 2020 Share #5 Posted November 19, 2020 Don't beat yourself up. It is a very desireable patch and you got it for a good price,I was watching that auction. You just mistook WW1 Liberty Loan WOVEN patch for what you WISHED it to be, a bevo Italian made patch. Glad you have the right books to check. iron bender Posted November 19, 2020 Author Share #6 Posted November 19, 2020 Absolute laziness got the best of me on this one. Funny I kept looking at the reverse of this patch, and it ain't the same as the Italian made patches. Guess I insisted it had to be true. I've been hunting good examples of II Corps, 85th ID, and FSSF, for a couple years now. I will say this is the first Liberty Loan patch I own, and it will simply slip in to the pre-WW2 pile. Thanks for the info Mort! .....I'm curious if there's any development on the 17th AB 'Italian' made patch.
Ray42 Posted November 19, 2020 Share #7 Posted November 19, 2020 I read on another topic that the 17th AB are not really Italian, they are German and just look the same. I think that was really the only explanation I think that was given.
