3rdMarDivMP Posted November 13, 2020 Share #1 Posted November 13, 2020 I have the following green FS/SB helmet that has an underlying coat of Navy blue paint. It is most obvious on the top of the helmet - indicating to me field use. So why would a blue Navy helmet be overpainted olive green? Seems to indicate a shipboard individual being reassigned to a land-based unit. For example, in Episode 5 of "War In The Pacific", there is a scene of 30-40 corpsman marching off the ship as Peleliu replacements wearing blue helmets. If assigned to a Marine infantry unit, would they continue to wear their blue helmets? I'm not trying to prove this is a corpsman helmet. Just curious as to opinions on why/when this type of repaint would have happened.

3rdMarDivMP Posted November 13, 2020 Author Share #3 Posted November 13, 2020 Sorry for the quality of the pics. I realize it isn't easy to see the blue paint. The darker areas of the first two pics are blue paint showing through, while a good portion of the center top is exposed blue.
