I made a post in 2017 on these types of knives, some of my favorites. I have some updated pictures of them.

A few groups of U.S. WWII sword knives from known and unknown makers. These knives were mostly made from hilt, mid, and tip sections of M1913 Patton Sabers and Civil War sabers.

1, 10, 11. Supposedly San Antonio Iron Works cut down Patton Saber with original handle knives.

2. Supposedly San Antonio Iron Works cut down Patton Saber with wood handle knives.

3. Supposedly San Antonio Iron Works cut down Patton Saber with wood handle, (with finger grooves), knives.

4, 12, 13, 14. Unknown maker turned wood handle with flattened sides knives.

5. Unknown maker cut down Patton Saber with leather wrap handle knives.

6. Cut down Civil War Saber knives.

7. Knife Crafters knives.

8. Anderson cut down Patton Saber knives.

9. Unknown maker cut down Civil War Saber with brass handle knives.

These type of WW2 fighting knifes are still out there.. not as much is they were 20 30 40+ years ago but they’re out there.. this isn’t the collection of a low or middle-class individual… this is the collection of someone who’s fortunate to have money… It’s a beautiful collection,, but each one of these knives is probably a weeks pay if not more to the average person.. most of us are not that fortunate.. these knives range from an average of $600 to $2000 and more each… do the math….

Just a really great collection, well organized and beautifully photographed.

Great to look through.

Someone should do a photo reference book on these magnificent blades!

Thanks for sharing!

I think we’d all like to hear the story about how this collection came together…

Mostly just one at a time over the last 25 years. I did buy one group of three and one group of two Cole Book knives from Frank Trzaska. The group of three is pictured in this post. The group of two is shown below.

The irony is that the knives made from Patton Swords often sell for more than an original sword.  I sold a nice sword a couple of years ago at a local auction and did not get near what I’d hoped to get out of it ($375 or so) and the knives I’ve seen usually sell for considerably more than that.  Any ideas why that is?

It's the old saying what something is worth is what the buyer and seller agree to.  This is another example when things don't seem to make sense.

Thanks, mikedon.  You were kind enough to post most of these back in 2019, but I see you made some additions.  Some of your new ones were in my files:

1501 was on eBay in Aug 2008.

15843 was on eBay in Aug 2016 and Aug 2019.

24762 was on eBay in Sep 2009.
