Flightpath Posted November 8, 2020 Share #1 Posted November 8, 2020 Hi, just for interests sake: while watching the film "Speeding up the attack" about the battle for the Marshall Islands I noticed this M1 carbine sporting a bayonet from an M1 Garand.... I was wondering how this Marine (maybe a soldier) had done it?! Has this been seen before? Hope you find it interesting. -John

Misfit 45 Posted November 8, 2020 Share #3 Posted November 8, 2020 That's a great "still shot". As you know, the M4 carbine bayonet was not yet available. I would hate to be in combat in close quarters with the enemy without a bayonet. This guy may have felt the same way. There are several ways he could have done it, but it would sure be great to see exactly how. Marv
thorin6 Posted November 8, 2020 Share #4 Posted November 8, 2020 Here's a picture of an ersatz bayonet lug for an M4. I imagine something like this was used for the M1 bayonet.
