M1 carbine with Garand bayonet...

Recommended Posts

Hi, just for interests sake:

while watching the film "Speeding up the attack" about the battle for the Marshall Islands I noticed this M1 carbine sporting a bayonet from an M1 Garand....

I was wondering how this Marine (maybe a soldier) had done it?! Has this been seen before?

Hope you find it interesting.

That's a great "still shot".  As you know, the M4 carbine bayonet was not yet available.  I would hate to be in combat in close quarters with the enemy without a bayonet.  This guy may have felt the same way.  There are several ways he could have done it, but it would sure be great to see exactly how.
