WWIIBuff1945 Posted November 7, 2020 Share #1 Posted November 7, 2020 I have a picture of an Army soldier that I am trying to find out what outfit he served in. I went through all 15 pages of the DUI reference thread and I think it may be the picture I posted. I would greatly appreciate any help. Thanks! Tonomachi Posted November 7, 2020 Share #2 Posted November 7, 2020 I think they are a pair of 26th Infantry Regiment unit crests like the one pictured below.
WWIIBuff1945 Posted November 7, 2020 Author Share #3 Posted November 7, 2020 Thanks for your opinion I'm just not sure still. Whatever symbol on the middle is not as wide as the arrow.
aznation Posted November 8, 2020 Share #4 Posted November 8, 2020 Slightly more enlarged pic of dui's. Also, maybe someone can identify what patch he's wearing.

patches Posted November 9, 2020 Share #6 Posted November 9, 2020 And was previously in the 79th Infantry Division, he does not wear for whatever reason the French Fourragere which he was entitled to wear, this one awarded the 79th Infantry Division and the units therein, as a new member of the 26th Infantry 1st Infantry Division, he also would wear a Fourragere, this a 1st Division award. patches Posted November 9, 2020 Share #8 Posted November 9, 2020 10 hours ago, WWIIBuff1945 said: Thanks Patches I see the 79th Division now! It looks like a woolie type, like maybe machine embroidered on that dark officer gaberdine seen in the pre war period with some patches.

Blacksmith Posted November 9, 2020 Share #10 Posted November 9, 2020 I do think he’s a “blue spader”. The screenshot Tonomachi grabbed off of Worthpoint is not a great example - the spade looks wider than on most 26th IR DUIs I have seen.
