ArtyScout Posted October 28, 2020 Share #1 Posted October 28, 2020 Well I have the base, which I will tweak a little plus add what is required and Italeri's 1/35 scale M110 8in SP howitzer. The kit was fitted with Verlinden AM resin barrel and breach and I will use the kits vinyl tracks. I also will have plenty of rounds and I'll add figures as need be. As always ALL critiques and comments are greatly appreciated. Semper Fi. Manny

ArtyScout Posted November 4, 2020 Author Share #7 Posted November 4, 2020 Hey All; Thought I'd post some WIP pics of the M110. I painted it Marine Corps green but with the weathering the color was perfect. And there will be more weathering and tweaking to follow. The 3rd and 4th pics have the decals applied except for the "Jolly Roger" which is a dry transfer. As always ALL comments and critiques are greatly appreciated. Semper Fi. ArtyScout Posted November 11, 2020 Author Share #11 Posted November 11, 2020 Hey Everyone. I'm glad you like the WIP pictures. I have some more. I added some more decals to the M110 along with attaching the vinyl tracks. I'm not pleased with the way they 'don't' sag onto the road wheels. But I'll take care of that. Also the 3 AM copper rounds on the right have great relief compared to the one which came with the kit. Also those rounds along with the wood racks, stored rounds and powder bag containers are primed and ready for color. Semper Fi. Manny
Proud Kraut Posted November 13, 2020 Share #12 Posted November 13, 2020 Good progress Manny! I bought the same ammo set once and must admit that this is a very good addition. Can´t wait to see the next steps. Lars
ArtyScout Posted November 13, 2020 Author Share #13 Posted November 13, 2020 Well here are the rounds and storage containers painted and decaled. The AM copper ones are next as decal recipients. I was also able to tweak the track sag somewhat; but I'm still not too thrilled with how the track sits on the drive sprocket. Well I hope you like the pics. Semper Fi. ArtyScout Posted November 17, 2020 Author Share #16 Posted November 17, 2020 Basically the rounds are done. I also did the powder charge bags. I like how the camera captures things that the eye might miss. So I'll be giving the projectiles another coating of DullCote. Semper Fi. ArtyScout Posted December 6, 2020 Author Share #21 Posted December 6, 2020 Hey guys. I know I haven't posted any WIP pics because there really wasn't anything to post. But I have some and more in the future to come. I always wonder why figures look smooth to the naked eye but the camera picks up all these little imperfections. The figures were made in accordance to Dennis' technique of kitbashing parts. I think they turned out pretty well. Well anyway here they are, enjoy and as always all comments and critiques are greatly appreciated. Semper Fi. Manny
ArtyScout Posted December 6, 2020 Author Share #22 Posted December 6, 2020 Here are a couple of preliminary pics of the base. I did the groundwork and the wood slats on the ground. Next I'm going for the wood slats that make up the walls. Semper Fi. Manny
Proud Kraut Posted December 6, 2020 Share #23 Posted December 6, 2020 I think your figures and the base are looking marvelous. Great progress!
Old Marine Posted December 6, 2020 Share #24 Posted December 6, 2020 Your figures look great. I think we will always have that issue with figures and paint looking terrible in very close up photos. I paint with the idea that they have to look good at normal viewing distance with out magnification. I have a lot of figures that just look awful very closeup, but when viewed as a part of the "whole" they look fine. That fire base is looking great. cutiger83 Posted December 7, 2020 Share #25 Posted December 7, 2020 I really like the firebase. The mud looks very realistic. ...Kat
