m1a2u2 Posted October 27, 2020 Share #1 Posted October 27, 2020 Finally found one of these. Although this is the first one I have seen that has a manufacturer mark on it. The one in Alec's book didn't have one. Was lucky to come across it at a show.

warguy Posted October 27, 2020 Share #4 Posted October 27, 2020 Dang it has been a week for rare Marine gear coming out of the woodwork. First a Span Am drum posted, then a rare 1912 pistol belt and now this. Congrats, that is a nice piece of rare marine equipment. I hope to find one as well some day. US Victory Museum Posted October 28, 2020 Share #7 Posted October 28, 2020 That one looks very nice, showing honest fading from use. Mine, which like so many others isn't marked, likely came out of a pile of unused surplus. I envy yours. 'Wanna trade? 😁 From some of your previous postings, I know that you have an earlier display with the 1907 type USMC cartridge belt, a set of 202 suspenders, 1914 dated, canteen (USMC), first aid pouch (USMC), and 1912 haversack. Are you going to try to recreate the QMC photo above (WWI era)? Do you have a set Mills 1917 suspenders like those photographed above? They are neither rare, nor scarce, but are uncommon. I love this obscure gear. Thanks for posting!

Any assistance in what to look for there would be much appreciated.
warguy Posted October 28, 2020 Share #9 Posted October 28, 2020 The 1907 belt is a 9 pocket and tan in color, and I find it is easier to acquire and usually less expensive than the 10 pocket pea green 1910 pattern (those were mostly used up in France). I think Bay State has a decent 1907 for sale right now if I remember right. The shirts are hard to come by. A lot of fakes have flooded the market the last few years. Mostly are clearly advertised as repro’s though and generally sell for $75.00 or so on eBay. I acquired mine after a few years of looking. One in nice shape should run around $350-400 if you can find one. Good luck, you have a nice start with that pouch!
ChowLineReproductions Posted July 10, 2022 Share #10 Posted July 10, 2022 That's a fine example you have there, Figure I would add my mine to this thread as well. Got this years ago from a fellow Marine collector for $20. Have always wanted to pack it with the correct contents, but could never track down a content list for it. If anyone has that list, I'd love to see it.
