27Division18 Posted October 26, 2020 Share #1 Posted October 26, 2020 This pair of boots was with a WWI 77th Division grouping I've had for years. They are dark with age so I cannot see many stamps except "Sundial Boots" around the top. I can also see a "6" size stamp inside the bottom of the boots. Are these one of the patterns of WWI issue doughboy combat boots?

Allan H. Posted October 27, 2020 Share #3 Posted October 27, 2020 I would heartily recommend the attached thread about US military boots from this time period. There is a wealth of information in there. My gut feeling is that your boots are private purchase work boots. That does not mean that they couldn't have been worn by the vet, especially if the vet wore his uniform after the war for parades etc. Your boots would be much more comfortable than wearing a pair of hobnailed Pershing boots I believe. Lsparks Posted October 27, 2020 Share #4 Posted October 27, 2020 Google gave up several adds for Sundial shoes. Most seem aimed at kids. Some seem to also be for adults. I saw attributed periods from the 30’s to 50’sSent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
