JLENG Posted January 22, 2009 Share #1 Posted January 22, 2009 I found this photo in a local antique shop this weekend. It is an autographed photo of Fred Waring and the Pennsylvanians probably taken 1944 that was probalbly handed out to the attendees. The crowd is made up of soldiers and sailors and I believe the concert was broadcast live as the microphone in the back has NBC on it.
General Apathy Posted January 22, 2009 Share #2 Posted January 22, 2009 Hi Jleng, thanks for posting this photo, never seen this photo before really amazed at the size of the Chesterfield cigarette advert at the rear of the stage. Wonder if any of the Chesterfield adverts of this size survived the war. Cheers ( Lewis )
cashman Posted January 22, 2009 Share #3 Posted January 22, 2009 Wow!!! Thats a great score!!! Chesterfield sponsored the Moonlight Serenade with the Glenn Miller Orchestra until Miller went in the Army. Fred Waring invented the blender. Thanks!!!
