Flashlarue Posted October 18, 2020 Share #1 Posted October 18, 2020 First time I have seen a DUI in this "buff" color. Made by Robbins Co. Attleboro. Does anyone know the history of this unit?
patches Posted October 26, 2020 Share #2 Posted October 26, 2020 No ifo found really on this unit other then this DI no doubt was approved sometime in the 1920s-30s for the 402nd Quartermaster Regiment, a unit of the reserves. 402nd Quartermaster Regiment is assigned to the 77th Division sometime in the 30s in NYC, 402nd Quartermaster Regiment is no doubt broken up in like 1941 or 42, with this DI retained by one of the units. like one of the battalions within the regiment that retained the regimental number, the 402nd Quartermaster Battalion, and that's where the guessing ends as there's no other info on it in WWII, only for the current 402nd Quartermaster Battalion which has a completely new DI, with a Korean Ying Yang on it for it's service in that conflict. Flashlarue Posted October 27, 2020 Author Share #3 Posted October 27, 2020 That's pretty much what I found. Not much information on this unit.
patches Posted October 27, 2020 Share #4 Posted October 27, 2020 Seems the old 402nd Quartermaster Regiment must of been inactivated either in 1941 or 42 because it does not show in units in WWII. It must of of been activated post war, as the 402nd Quartermaster Battalion, where? We know this much now because it only shows for Korean War service. in Pamphlet 672-1 Unit Citations and Campaign Participation Credit Register June 1961.
