Vincennes Posted October 12, 2020 Share #1 Posted October 12, 2020 I recently acquired 16 B&W photographs (3.5 x 5") of a military aircraft boneyard. I think this is at Davis-Monthan AFB. Here are 3 of the photos. If you want to see more, ask. Paul

TheCrustyBosun Posted October 12, 2020 Share #5 Posted October 12, 2020 Davis-Monthan AFB was and still is a treasure trove of aviation history. My cousin was stationed there as a USAF SP. I visited him in 1996 and he was able to take me for a ride through the boneyard. I was an idiot not to bring a camera. Then again, I wasn’t expecting such a treat. I vividly remember NASA’s Guppy sitting there. I believe Pima has her now. On another note, I felt sad at the fact that there was a yard just across the street where aircraft were being broken up for parts and scrap. I distinctly remember a C-119 being torn apart. bunkerhillburning Posted October 12, 2020 Share #6 Posted October 12, 2020 - so much history now vanished. I wish you had your camera, too!
TheCrustyBosun Posted October 12, 2020 Share #7 Posted October 12, 2020 Pima Air and Space has grabbed a very large and nice selection of aircraft from the boneyard.
bunkerhillburning Posted October 12, 2020 Share #8 Posted October 12, 2020 Good. Pima is one of the places I would so enjoy seeing. No idea when I'll be able to do that. What was your trip to the museum like?

I have seen photos from others who have visited and the google earth imagery shows and impressive collection outside.

TheCrustyBosun Posted October 12, 2020 Share #13 Posted October 12, 2020 Believe it or not, a few of those B-57’s are still there.......... in the boneyard, not the museum.
