Military_Curator Posted October 6, 2020 Share #1 Posted October 6, 2020 Hey all, This is a selection of 19 letters from Captain James H. Griffin of CO E, 5th Engineers (thought he was 7th Engineers but I guess I misread my own label). He was born on September 3rd, 1889 in Fort Edward, NY. He was appointed a 1st Lieutenant September 11th, 1917 and Captain on October 1st, 1918. He fought in the Meusse-Argonne and participated in the occupation of Germany. I'll post letter by letter. Military_Curator Posted October 6, 2020 Author Share #21 Posted October 6, 2020 These are miscellaneous newspaper clippings included with the letter. Apparently, his cousin on his mother's side was KIA during the war. Also is his separation and Corps of Engineers reserve status. Post war he was a rail roadman in NY.
