Cla44 Posted October 5, 2020 Share #1 Posted October 5, 2020 Need advice on restoration or leave as is. It looks like parts are difficult to find. I have oiled and wiped with cloth.
TheCrustyBosun Posted October 5, 2020 Share #2 Posted October 5, 2020 I’d say that’s about it. It’s only original once. Leave it be, just stabilize it’s present condition. That’s my opinion. Mileage may vary.
Cla44 Posted October 5, 2020 Author Share #3 Posted October 5, 2020 That's what I was leaning towards, I may pick up a reproduction and display it with the original.
BryanJ Posted October 6, 2020 Share #4 Posted October 6, 2020 I suspect you’d spend more to restore than to purchase another one. I had a nice one, paid $525 for it 3 years ago, sent it to a militaria auction a year ago and it sold for $375.
Spathologist Posted October 6, 2020 Share #5 Posted October 6, 2020 You'd need: Guard Metal blade washer Ferrule Pommel Left and right grip panels Panel screws (2) Guard/pommel connector (usually brazed to the guard) Pommel screw. And a scabbard. A leather washer if you really wanted to go full monty.
