Hello,

Was offered this for sale. What is it exactly, what period is it from, and most importantly what’s it worth? Is there significant interest for this item?

If I had to guess it’s a 20ty Century US Navy full dress items by the looks of it. Maybe 20s-40s?

Thanks!

Hunt

What do they want for it?

He didn't say but said others offered $50 and he "wouldn't even sell the box and key for that amount" so I'm guessing a few hundred at least.

It’s a cool set and I think it’s WW2 or earlier.

Maybe there is a name somewhere.

The bicorne is a little tired looking but overall good plus condition.

Not sure what a set like this goes for but my gut tells me 400.

Yes exactly right, basically 1922-1942. Nothing changed much in those years so it's tough to narrow it down without a name. The term is "cocked hat."

Those things are nice but I don't believe there's much of a market for them unless it's a known name or an admiral.

These are actually rather common, as every graduate of the USNA  in the 20 years leading up to 1941 bought a set. They are usually overpriced, as they look so impressive and the unknowing (typically  antique dealers) feel they just have to be worth a fortune.

Thanks guys for the info! If you had to put a price on it any idea? I think I’m probably going to pass by the sounds of it, it’s cool but not really fitting into my area and doesn’t sound like I’ll have too much luck reselling. The seller sounds like he wants a pretty penny.
