FT.Monmouth1943 Posted October 1, 2020 Share #1 Posted October 1, 2020 Here is a 503rd Infantry helmet with the tac marks on each side. I’ve never seen one with an “I” in the middle of it, so I don’t know if this is for 1st BN or if it’s still for 3rd. The ERDL cover is salty, the tac marks have been put on twice (can see the first layer in the pics), and the covers rust stains match the shell. However, I don’t think the liner is original to the helmet. It’s a 1967 AB liner with a postwar sweatband. Still though, it’s nice to have an original cover and shell that was almost certainly used in country.

FT.Monmouth1943 Posted October 1, 2020 Author Share #5 Posted October 1, 2020 Thanks! It’s definitely an interesting cover. The big reason why I picked it up was because it’s the first wartime ERDL helmet I’ve come across that was unit marked. - Jakob
