JAD57 Posted September 30, 2020 Share #1 Posted September 30, 2020 Have some questions about this patch. What era is this patch? Is this patch foreign made or made in the states? Does the number one stand for the 1st Brigade? Thanks in advance for any help.
Tonomachi Posted September 30, 2020 Share #2 Posted September 30, 2020 This looks like a reproduction.
Allan H. Posted September 30, 2020 Share #3 Posted September 30, 2020 The era is 2020 era and appears to be one of the fakes coming out of the Czech Republic. Allan
JAD57 Posted October 1, 2020 Author Share #4 Posted October 1, 2020 Thank you both for the information, very good to know. What would be a couple of points to look for in comparison to an original example? Thank you, Jeff
Tonomachi Posted October 1, 2020 Share #5 Posted October 1, 2020 I would go to this website put together by Mark Bando and study the various examples of 101st Airborne Division SSIs. https://www.101airborneww2.com/eaglepatchcorner.html
Allan H. Posted October 1, 2020 Share #6 Posted October 1, 2020 Tonomachi provides you with some good advice. I would also encourage any collector that wants to collect Airborne patches and militaria to purchase a copy of Emblems of Honor" Airborne edition by the Keller Brothers. It is an OUTSTANDING reference and will save you the cost of the book when you avoid buying your first fake. Allan
JAD57 Posted October 1, 2020 Author Share #7 Posted October 1, 2020 Great advice, I will have a Long look at this site and also the reference book. A copy is on the way. This patch came in a lot of military items belonging to a Vietnam veteran who was a collector, possibly a dealer. I will have some other items to post for authentication and some for identification. Thanks very much again for the help, Jeff
