Phantomf4 Posted September 29, 2020 Share #1 Posted September 29, 2020 Got this yesterday, i think it may be a recruiting poster or something from the recruiter's office. Has a tag that states it was from a bank in Missouri. Any ideas?
Dirk Posted September 29, 2020 Share #2 Posted September 29, 2020 Yes, WWI era and desirable. Artist is a well know illustrator, Joseph Leyendecker, who was a German born artist highly active in doing magazine covers of the era. To poster collectors he is known for doing a number of Marine and Navy recruitment posters during that era.

Phantomf4 Posted September 29, 2020 Author Share #5 Posted September 29, 2020 It says Richland bank of Morrison Missouri, i looked it up it was around from 1915-41. I'm not sure if it was in Morrison missouri though.
tdogchristy90 Posted September 29, 2020 Share #6 Posted September 29, 2020 Yeah, Morrison is on the opposite side of the state from me, near St. Louis. It’s a great find, very well done. It seems nicely framed, good job.

SgtMaddoxUSMC Posted November 3, 2020 Share #10 Posted November 3, 2020 Also strange that the box doesn't say "US Marines" at it should from all the other ones I've seen
Phantomf4 Posted November 3, 2020 Author Share #11 Posted November 3, 2020 it's 18 x 26 inches. Maybe it's unfinished, i couldn't find this exact one that reads write to USMC HQ for more details.
Usa1918 Posted November 7, 2020 Share #12 Posted November 7, 2020 Mine is identical 18x 26, The only ones of this type, or pictures in 2 of the 5 references on WW1 posters I have, I've seen have no inscription in the box. One of Leyendecker's classic posters
Usa1918 Posted November 7, 2020 Share #13 Posted November 7, 2020 There is a similar larger poster that does have U.S.Marines on it with the imagery above in the middle surrounded by USMC scenes

Usa1918 Posted November 7, 2020 Share #16 Posted November 7, 2020 No we have the smaller original version, While the larger one is about +/- 30"x40" ('d have to drag mine out again to measure exactly Keith
