Greg Robinson Posted January 21, 2009 Share #2 Posted January 21, 2009 I first read about Lt William Deane Hawkins of El Paso Texas when my parents gave me a copy of "The Fortunes of War" for Christmas in 1964. An amazing story of an amazing man. I don't think there was a Marine in WW2 more deserving of the MOH. And as was often the case, it was awarded posthumously.
