ArchangelDM Posted September 28, 2020 Share #1 Posted September 28, 2020 After speaking with a friend on another forum he put me in contact with an older collector who is starting to move his collection. He sent me some photos of this nice first pattern front seam swivel bail helmet. I love the cover and the chinstrap so we made a deal. When the helmet arrived I loved the colour of the used camo and the general look of it all. when taking a peak under the cover I saw some numbers on the front - 430 in blue and a yellow T. After checking the camo cover more closely on the beach side I was pleasantly surprised to uncover a UNIS marking for weapons company 423 !! Measuring it up with my other Unis markings - the size matches perfectly for the late war markings on my shovel covers. The numbers have the correct detachment and size. Also as it being on the beach side like my other Unis marked cover I’m thinking late war 45 Iwo Jima. Im also guessing the blue on the front being 430 may also be related to the marine and weapons company. not sure what the T represents on the top but it’s very cool enjoy the photos Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

This half moon shape + number is indicative of how Marine Units marked their gear ? PS I love the reposts. I do it with my Kriegsmarine and Navy M-1s all the time when I take new shots.
