suwanneetrader Posted October 13, 2020 Share #26 Posted October 13, 2020 As I posted earlier Ocala GW sells them (old ones not modern camo) to a "special" group of dealers. A friend of mine took me in the back room a couple of years ago to see a WWI Uniform, I was not permitted to try and buy it. Richard Wanted: WWI ID'ed USMC Green Wool Uniform and ANYTHING documented to my Dad's Iwo Jima outfit: 21st Marines 3rd Div. Items marked "Marquet, Marquett, or Marquette"
huntssurplus Posted October 13, 2020 Share #27 Posted October 13, 2020 Welp I did my yearly Halloween goodwill and thrift store run and came up empty. I saw some modern military uniforms, but nothing older then the 90's. Honestly I wouldn't be surprised with the advent of the internet if Goodwill funnels off items they find as more "desirable" elsewhere. I did peek into the back rooms of a few and there were basically mountains of clothes so who knows maybe there was something in there. I'm guessing most of the stuff I'm looking for is just too old to find it's way into goodwill or a thrift store that often. Hunt I am an amateur collector of US military items of the 20th century. Looking for items related to: -The Aleutian Island Campaign of WW2, Alaskan Theater, Alaska Defense Command, and more specifically the Battle of Attu -Items related to the 50th Combat Engineer Regiment/Battalion -Items related to Wheelus Air Force Base Libya, particularly from 1957-1960 -WW2 items belonging to service members from Northern Virginia -WW2 Uniforms (all branches and services) -Cheap/Throwaway WW2 named uniforms -Smaller WW2 Groupings -7th Infantry Division Items -WW2 Photos and Letters (all branches, theaters, services, etc) ^^ PM ME!! KommandoPost Posted October 17, 2020 Share #31 Posted October 17, 2020 From the other thread: I picked up a USMC P44 jacket today from a Halloween rack. Previously, I found a modified ALICE pouch with the side flaps cut off, as used by SEALs in the 80's and 90's And a $5 80's M1 helmet.
easterneagle87 Posted November 2, 2020 Author Share #32 Posted November 2, 2020 Well folks it was a valiant year! We tried and we succeeded! No matter how few or many items (both rare and common) were found, we were out there looking! I applaud you for your efforts. I will try and get my topic up earlier nest year, so that we can all share in our hobby. Until then, keep noodling into those dark crevasses and sifting those rocks. mikie Posted November 2, 2020 Share #33 Posted November 2, 2020 Well, I finally found something military on Saturday at Goodwill! It sure looks real, but was so small, child size? As much as a temptation it may have been, I left it for someone else to grab. Glad some of you hit paydirt. Good hunting next year everyone!
