Name Counter Intelligence Corp - South Pacific Veteran Helmet Uniform

Recommended Posts

Purchased this past week. Grouping was found in a closet in New York at a house sale. No living relatives so buyer posted on ebay.

Veterans name is Richard William Stone. Service # 42040964. Uniform has MP devices and 8th Army patch, Rank of Tech Sgt. Nice felt like rank patch.

2 Oversea caps. Japanese Phrase book and Soldiers Handbook. Very nice M1 Helmet that the veteran wrote his name BOB inside the metal shell.

From what i have gathered online and after locating his obituary Robert Williams was born May 10 1913 Scranton Pennsylvania.

He worked for the Pennsylvania Central Railroad for 36 years and retired as a Director of Security.

He enlisted Sept 20 1943. He served in the South Pacific as a Counter Intelligence Corp Agent and also active during Occupation of Japan.

I have started to try to locate Stones actual unit information.

Does anyone have any information on the CIC detachments during the war?

I have seen the basic information online but nothing that really helps pin point where Stone would have served.

Appreciate you letting me share and thank you for any help regarding Stones unit or understanding the Counter Intelligence Corp during the war.

Thank you kindly.

Kind Regards, Michael .S
