Attempt at humor? I already saw that information that you cut and paste from Google. The 29th IS part of the 25th ID now. The question was, were they attached to them previously. You could have replied without the jab, or not replied at all.
Unicorn Posted October 11, 2020 Share #8 Posted October 11, 2020 That might be the official history, but it might not be the complete detailed history. Some things are left out. Look up the 14th Engineer battalion. It doesn't show that B company was part of the WA National Guard until around 2005. Nor does it show that it was assigned as part of the 555th EN BDE. And about the 555th, that page only shows some information about the Headquarters and Headquarters company. The page doesn't show much about the 3rd Army, that it is also the Army Central Command, or that it's had multiple units attached for year (or less) rotations in Kuwait, Saudi, and Quatar for force protection. It doesn't even actually show the 3rd Army. If you didn't know it was ARCENT you wouldn't even know to look at the Army Central page. The page shows the 7th ID Headquarters, and that really is accurate, being activated at Lewis, but not that it controls a couple brigades of the 2ID, nor the 555th Engineers, nor the 81st Brigade of the WAARNG. The page shows the 4th Brigade HQ o the 101st ABN DIV (AASLT), but not that the 4th BDE was deactivated and the 506th becoming the 2nd batallions of the other three brigades. So there is now a "Curahee Rakassan" or something like that. Basically if you're going to attempt to be a smart rump you should use a source that is complete. tredhed2 Posted June 11, 2021 Share #10 Posted June 11, 2021 Since the correct designation is the 29th Engineer Topographic Bn/29th Engr Base Topo Bn, no, they were not assigned to nor attached to the 25th ID during WW 2. Perhaps the division used some of their maps....... They had their own patch, which looks like their DI. Stanton indicates the 29th was assigned GHQ.
