Basic Rifleman Posted September 11, 2020 Share #1 Posted September 11, 2020 Not sure if this is a roadrunner or a woodpecker, but it came from a WWII USAAF estate, and I couldn't find any info on google images. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Semper Fi, Tom Lantz USMC 2000-2008
collectsmedals Posted September 11, 2020 Share #2 Posted September 11, 2020 It looks like a winged shoe to me. Maybe some sort of track and field award?

easterneagle87 Posted September 12, 2020 Share #5 Posted September 12, 2020 Pretty sure it's a high school "track" foot that you'd sew onto the letter of a letterman's jacket. sgtdorango Posted September 12, 2020 Share #6 Posted September 12, 2020 There was a winged foot patch in ww2 for escaping and making it back to your own lines or something to that effect, not sure if this is one of those or not but certainly worth looking into...mike Always looking for and buying 50's era 11th Airborne/ 187th ARCT/ 82nd Airborne tac mark painted jump helmets! Basic Rifleman Posted September 13, 2020 Author Share #9 Posted September 13, 2020 I feel the consensus is non-military winged shoe. I appreciate all the help here....
Scarecrow Posted September 13, 2020 Share #10 Posted September 13, 2020 The patch is almost certainly a track award most likely to be affixed to a Letterman's jacket or sweater. The badge Sgt. Dorango is speaking about is the "Winged Boot", it was an unofficial escape and evasion award. The photo below is of an original one in bullion. They also came in a metal version. Always looking for 4th Fighter Group and 490th Bomb Group items.
