Kojak and Midway Actor Kevin Dobson

Kevin Dobson passed, he was an MP in the mid 60s. As usual dates of service and units are not mention, but did see this photo of him at the Military Police Center and School, Ft Gordon, maybe he was stationed there for a bit after training as permanent party. Later he served twice as chairman of the National Salute To Hospitalized Veterans, and was involved in several veterans organizations.

He was a good actor.

 

As a side note... when the movie Midway came out, back in the 70's....

The real Ensign Gay was interviewed on the Today Show.

I remember seeing it and he described how he would duck under the water

to avoid the Japs strafing him. He saw the whole battle of Midway from the water and I think, Not sure but I think

he was the only survivor of torpedo squadron 8.

That's correct, basically apart from a detail from the Squadron that was at the Norfolk Navy Yard waiting for new planes, and whoever didn't take to the air that day from the Squadron, and those Squadron support personnel, like the mechanics, the clerks etc, still aboard, he was indeed the only one alive.
